Frenectomy

A frenectomy is a very straightforward procedure and is carried out when the frenum is too tight or too short. There are several different types as the upper labial frenum is connected from the upper lip to the upper jaw and it can cause problems with gaps between the front teeth or gum recession. The lingual frenum is connected underneath the tongue, restricting the flexibility of the tongue which can cause orthodontic problems or speech problems. A frenectomy is a small procedure to release the frenum and will allow free movement.
