Our Technology

Having access to great technology enables us to provide you with a faster and more accurate diagnosis, so we can then recommend the very best treatments to correct any dental problems without delays.

Our facility includes
• Digital x-rays that emit low levels of radiation
• Intraoral cameras so you get to see what we can see
• Surgical Microscope and Magnifying loupes with additional illumination
• Digital OPG (full-face x-ray)
• Implant planning software for CT-guided implant placement
• Caries detector
• Digital Scanner

The use of digital x-rays not only reduces radiation exposure but with higher resolution and speed of processing where you can visualise in real-time, it improves our ability to identify early dental decay and other issues.

We regularly use intra-oral cameras to take highly detailed digital photos inside the mouth. We may use an intraoral camera if we detect a particular problem, as the images can be displayed straightaway on the screen in our dental surgery so you can see exactly what is going on inside your mouth, enabling us to show you areas of concern as we discuss options for treatment.
Microscopes allow our dentist to see areas being treated in far greater detail, even up to 20 times the original size, so we can make sure all infection or decay is thoroughly removed in hard-to-see areas. This helps us to carry out intricate and detailed treatment than would be possible without them. Usually found only in highly specialised practices, we are proud to say that we are the first practice in the region to have access to this technology and Dr PK has been performing microscope assisted procedures since 2007.

You will find that all our dentists use magnifying loupes with additional illumination at all times while treating patients. We believe that this standard of care enables us to provide quality dentistry. The availability of an on-site digital OPG (Full face x-ray machine) eliminates the need for the patients to be referred out causing further delays in diagnosis and necessary treatment. Our implant planning software helps us virtually plan implant placement and reduces the risk of surgical complications and improves the long-term outcome. A caries detector acts as a good adjunct to x-rays when trying to diagnose tooth decay. It utilises laser fluorescence to detect hard to find hidden decay.

We at Northern Beaches Dental are constantly evolving to help our patients receive the best treatment. One of the ways we are doing this is with the latest digital impression system technology which helps in getting a 3-D digital scan or picture of your teeth in real time. It is a great alternative to using impression products inside your mouth. What we achieve is a faster, accurate digital file of your teeth and gums which can be used in an array of treatments like crowns and bridges, implant planning, digital smile design and much more!
